CLEVELAND – Browns wide receiver Ryan Switzer said his newborn son has been hospitalized again and is undergoing a blood transfusion.
Switzer posted the latest Twitter update on Christian on Sunday, saying he’s having another transfusion after your hemoglobin dropped overnight. Switzer said doctors need to do the boy’s blood count so that he is stable enough to undergo further tests.
Switzer asked his followers for prayers.
Earlier this week, the 26-year-old father posted a video thanking the audience for his impressive show of support for Christian, who underwent surgery last week after being hospitalized for bleeding. Switzer said doctors were not yet sure what was causing the bleeding. Christian, who was born in May 2020, also tested positive for COVID-19.
Switzer wrote on Saturday night that Christian had more “significant bleeding” and was back to the hospital.
“We are frustrated, but even more exhausted from seeing our son suffer,” wrote Switzer. “We are asking for prayers for doctors as they work to find a diagnosis and strength for Christian as he struggles.”
Switzer spent the last season on the Cleveland training team. He was with the Pittsburgh Steelers for two seasons after being drafted by Dallas in the 2017 North Carolina NFL draft.
