What we know as Project Athia, an exclusive PlayStation 5 console from Square Enix, received an official title from the Japanese publisher. Its name is Forspoken and a small part of the footage above confirms that it will be released sometime next year for PS5 and PC.
The main character is inspired by actress Ella Balinska, who is perhaps best known for her role in the 2017 version of Charlie’s Angels. The protagonist’s name is Frey Holland, described as “an ordinary young woman who must take advantage of her magical abilities to survive in the fantastic and dangerous land of Athens”. The game will take PS5 players on a “magical and dangerous journey” and, furthermore, we still don’t know much about it. Square Enix has confirmed that it will present another digital showcase in the summer season, so hopefully more will be shared then.
The gameplay helps to give us a real sense of the speed with which Frey will traverse Athia’s lands in this action RPG. “I can’t wait for players to experience firsthand how satisfying it is to move around Athia, climb cliffs and jump ravines in the future,” said director Takeshi Aramaki on PlayStation Blog.
