“Debo, as we call him here, he was someone who MarShawn (Lloyd) brought to us, ”head coach Shane Beamer said this off-season. “We said (MarShawn) that he was one by one as a recruiter. MarShawn came to me and Coach Kitchings and said, ‘I know this guy back home. Take a look at his video. ‘You watched his video, you called him up and you were like,’ My God, how was he not recruited by ACC, SEC, Big Ten? ‘ Really impressive video and productive high school career. He’s a guy who’s totally professional.
“When I told you last week that I entered the weight room around 5:45 am and there were two guys there already lifting weights, it was Debo and MarShawn there together. He’s 18 and 22 with the way he behaves. He is completely professional and will help us as a linebacker. “
Leaving high school, Williams received offers from Coastal Carolina, Elon, Kent State, UMass and Old Dominion. No Power 5 schools were offered, although he received interest from several schools in the region, including Maryland and West Virginia.
