The report indicates that Idaho Falls is the nation’s top hotspot for high rates of infection and positive testing by the population.

The data also shows the rapid rise in infection rates after state officials chose not to issue any pandemic control measures, removing masking mandates in these areas.

At about that time, on March 7, Idaho made headlines while protesters burned masks in the state capital.

The report also states that Idaho Falls is among the top 20, where new recorded cases are growing most rapidly.

Six more Idaho residents died of the virus on Wednesday, and five of those deaths occurred in Bannock, Bingham and Bonneville counties.
