Natalie Portman signs a TV production contract with Apple TV Plus to develop and produce new shows
Natalie Portman found a new production house on Apple TV Plus, closing a new initial production deal.
The 39-year-old actress and producer has just signed the contract to star and executive produce Apple TV Plus Lady In The Lake, alongside Lupita Nyong’o, marking Portman’s first regular role in a TV series.
Now she is strengthening her pact through an initial agreement between the streaming service and the new production company she formed with Sophie Mas, MountainA.

“We launched MountainA to support meaningful and timely projects and we couldn’t imagine a better partner to start this adventure than the fantastic team at Apple, which in a short time already has a history of working with some of the most inspiring filmmakers,” said Portman and Mas. in a joint statement (via The Hollywood Reporter).
“We are excited to create and develop bold stories together,” concluded the statement.
Lady In the Lake will be the first project launched under this initial agreement, although no details have been given for future projects.

Lady In the Lake takes place in Baltimore in the 1960s, which is shaken by an unsolved murder case.
The case leads housewife and mother Maddie Schwartz (Portman) to reinvent herself as an investigative journalist.
Her new line of work puts her in touch with Cleo Sherwood (Nyong’o), who is juggling to be a mother and several jobs while trying to promote the agenda of the black community in the city.

Alma Har’el (Honey Boy) is writing and directing the first episode, and she will co-write all subsequent episodes with Dre Ryan (The Man from the High Castle).
Portman and Nyong’o will serve as executive producers alongside Har’el and Ryan, as well as Har’el’s production partner, Christopher Leggett.
Other executive producers include Dallas Buyers Club director Jean-Marc Vallee and Crazyrose partner Nathan Ross Julie Gardner via Bad Wolf America and author Lippman.
