NFL Gamecocks: free agency tracker

The start of a new NFL year is today, the official start of the 2021 free agency period, despite the large amount of deals that have already been reported in the past few days. The number of South Carolina Gamecocks that are free agents is double digits and that number may grow with teams still reducing lists to meet wage cap requirements.

Prominent names who played for Gamecocks and achieved great success in the NFL are available as unrestricted free agents. 15-year veteran in the NFL Johnathan Joseph for Pro Bowl pass brokers, like Jadeveon Clowney and Melvin Ingram for the Super Bowl champion LVI placekicker Ryan Succop, this is the way to track when and who decides to hire them for the 2021 season and beyond.

Although wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is still a member of the Philadelphia Eagles organization, and it is widely expected to be released this week. ESPN’s Mike Clay even regards the Super Bowl champion as a free agent on his free agency cheatsheet, updated Tuesday night. Each free Gamecock agent will receive their own article on TheBigSpur.com when news of a contract is breached, but this article will also be updated.

Below are two separate lists, summaries of which former Gamecocks are free agents or under contract. Information about each free agent includes who he played with last season, what his stats were, his career gains and years of experience in the NFL. All players on their respective lists are in order from longest to shortest service (in alphabetical order if service time is the same).
