The United Talent Agency is getting into Hollywood action related to GameStop’s commercial frenzy.
THE FOUNDER OF REDDIT’S WALLSTREETBETS SELLS A LIFE STORY TO THE FILM PRODUCER
Jaime Rogozinski, the founder of Reddit’s speculative investment forum, WallStreetBets, confirmed to FOX Business that he signed with the agency, which represents big stars like Seth Rogan, Kevin Hart, Jessica Alba and Angelina Jolie.
UTA planned a talk for Rogozinski at a conference in the fall, and held preliminary discussions about his podcasts. Bloomberg, which reported the news for the first time, noted that the talks could range from a few thousand dollars to as much as $ 500,000 per presentation.
A UTA representative did not immediately return FOX Business’s request for comment.

WallStreetBets led a group of amateur investors earlier this year to come together and buy options for the struggling video game retailer, hurting short sellers in the market and causing GameStop’s stock to skyrocket to unprecedented levels.

Amateur investors began to target other strongly sold shares, including AMC Entertainment Holdings, BlackBerryLimited, Koss Corporation and Nokia Corp, among others. Short sellers lost at least $ 70 billion by betting against American companies in late January, including at least $ 19 billion in GameStop shares alone, according to financial data service Ortex.
Market volatility has led the investment platform Robinhood to restrict trading in heavily sold securities, provoking reactions from Wall Street and Main Street. Although Robinhood later reversed his decision, he opened the broker’s application to an audience with the Chamber’s Financial Services Committee and prompted the Justice Department to launch an investigation into the potential manipulation of the market.

Rogozinski’s new representation is his most recent foray into Hollywood. In February, Rogozinski sold his life story exclusively to director / producer Brett Ratner – who has been flying under the Hollywood radar since he faced multiple accusations of sexual harassment and assault.
Ratner and his film production company, RatPac Entertainment, are known for funding films such as “Wonder Woman” and various installments of the “X-Men” franchise. According to The Wall Street Journal, Ratner made a deal with Rogozinski on the “low six digits” to make a film, podcasts and other content based on the viral story.

Mark Boal, the screenwriter for “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Hurt Locker”, will also be writing a film adaptation of the stock market event for Netflix. Deadline reported that Noah Centineo, star of “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”, will play an important role in the film, while Scott Galloway, NYU professor, technology guru and host of “Pivot”, will consult on the project.
In addition, the proposal for the book “The Antisocial Network” by New York Times bestselling author Ben Mezrich on the same subject was also chosen by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios. Mezrich seemed to confirm the news on Twitter, while Deadline reports that producer Michael De Luca (“Captain Phillips”) will meet with Mezrich for the film. The pair collaborated on “The Social Network”, which was based on “The Accidental Billionaires: The Facebook Foundation, a story of sex, money, genius and betrayal” by Mezrich. WallStreetBets will also be the focus of three different documentaries: “This is Not Financial Advice” from the Wall Street Journal and two untitled documentaries, one of which is directed by Jonah Tulis, known as CBS All Acess (now Paramount +) doc, ‘”Console Wars “and XTR, the company behind” You Cannot Kill David Arquette “.
