Minnesota Vikings reach agreement with former New York Giants Dalvin Tomlinson

The Minnesota Vikings agreed to a deal with former New York Giants Dalvin Tomlinson, his agency confirmed on Twitter.

The deal is worth $ 22 million in two years, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, with $ 20 million in total guarantees and $ 16 million fully guaranteed. Tomlinson’s signing bonus is $ 15 million.

The Vikings on Monday also reached an agreement with former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Nick Vigil on a one-year contract that includes a guaranteed $ 1.35 million, a league source told Cronin.

Tomlinson, who turned 27 in February, was a brave midfielder in the Giants’ defensive line last season, ending with 49 tackles (8 for defeat), 3.5 sacks and 10 defender hits. He also hit four high-team passes on the scrimmage line, and his run-stuff rate of 5.1% was third among internal attackers, according to NextGen Stats.

Showing that kind of performance and consistency since he was called up in the second round of Alabama in 2017, Tomlinson was generally considered one of the best players in the domestic defensive line in the off-season.

Tomlinson lined up for 287 pitches last season with the Giants, but a source told Cronin that bringing Tomlinson does not affect where the Vikings will play Michael Pierce in the nose. Pierce signed with Minnesota in the low season, but opted out of the 2020 season because of the concerns of COVID-19. He is due to return in 2021.

Tomlinson, who has not lost a game in his first four professional seasons, was the best pass-rusher in a Giants defense that finished 10th against the race and 12th overall. He has 207 tackles and eight sacks in his career.

The NFL Network was the first to report the terms of Tomlinson’s deal with the Vikings.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan contributed to this report.
