LEXINGTON – Kentucky basketball is set to create one of its two postponed SEC basketball games.

The Wildcats will now face South Carolina at the Rupp Arena on March 6, as part of a series of seven makeup games announced by the SEC on Thursday. The UK was scheduled to host South Carolina in December when it opened on the SEC, but the game was delayed due to problems with COVID-19 under the Gamecocks program.

The time of deactivation and the television information for the game will be announced later.

The Wildcats also had a game against Texas A&M postponed earlier this week, but a composition for that game has not been announced by the SEC. Texas A&M had nine SEC games postponed and hasn’t played in almost a month.

The Aggies are now scheduled to play in Arkansas on March 6.

The SEC left open on the weekend of March 6-7 in its rescheduled schedule of games postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic, but eight teams with multiple games postponed during the regular season, there were few options for playing a full SEC 18 games scheduled for the entire league.

Sowing for the SEC Tournament will be determined by the percentage of wins on the event teams playing a different number of games.

On his radio show on Monday, UK coach John Calipari said he hoped his team could still play against South Carolina and Texas A&M, but he left the door open to add a game outside the conference next week. if both games were not rescheduled.
