The New England Patriots have not yet finished making moves to improve their lineup towards the 2021 season. After entering the free agent market to address three positions of need – tight end (Jonnu Smith), linebacker (Matt Judon), tackle defensive (Davon Godchaux) – they came back to reinforce a room as well: as first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, New England will sign with wide receiver Nelson Agholor.
Agholor Agreement, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, will be a two-year pact worth a total of $ 26 million. While the final structure of the deal provides additional context, New England has invested considerable resources in a player who has arguably had the best season of his career: the 6-foot-0, 200-pound wideout managed 48 passes for 896 yards and eight landings for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020.
Agholor, 27, joined the Raiders in the last off-season, after five years at the Philadelphia Eagles. A viable deep threat, capable of aligning both in the slot and abroad – possibly filling the role of Z-receiver in New England – the first draft ex-pick pick will add some much needed big play skill to a wide receiver room. Patriots who have only lacked that in the past two years.
