The network is investigating last week’s explosive debate, when Osbourne asked co-host Sheryl Underwood to “educate” her about why the comments made by Piers Morgan, whom she previously defended, were racist.

CBS ‘ The conversation is taking a brief hiatus from live shows after the network launched a review stemming from last Wednesday’s heated debate between Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that The conversation will avoid live shows on Monday and Tuesday, while CBS continues to investigate the explosive confrontation between Osbourne and Underwood, which started with a discussion of Piers Morgan’s bitter rivalry with Meghan Markle and turned into accusations of racism.

The show is scheduled to return to its regular live schedule on Wednesday.

During last Wednesday’s episode, Underwood asked Osbourne about her support for her ex America have talent colleague Morgan following the remarks he made about Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with CBS last Sunday. “What would you say to people who can feel that, while you’re next to your friend, it looks like you’ve given validation or safe haven to something he said is racist, even if you don’t agree? Am I saying that right?” Underwood said.

Osbourne responded by asking where Underwood had heard Morgan make racist comments: “Educate me, tell me when did you hear him say racist things?” Osbourne said. “I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend, who many people think is racist, so does that make me a racist?”

An increasingly agitated Osbourne replied, “How can I be racist about anyone or anything in my life,” she said, cursing while Underwood went on a commercial break. When the show returned, she continued to demand that Underwood explain what was racist about Morgan’s comments and added, “And don’t try to cry, because if someone should be crying, it should be me.”

Osbourne apologized for his comments on Thursday, saying, “I’m really sorry. I panicked, I was taken aback, I was defensive and I allowed my fear and horror of being accused of being racist to take over.”

The controversy continued, however, after The conversation co-host Holly Robinson Peete claimed in a tweet on Friday that Osbourne had made racist comments about her. “I’m old enough to remember when Sharon complained that I was too” ghetto “for # theTalk … so I was gone,” tweeted Robinson Peete.

Responding to Robinson Peete on Instagram, Osbourne wrote: “In response to [Peete’s] charge of getting her fired [The Talk] and saying that she was ‘too ghetto’ to be The conversation.

She added: “I never said those words and I am sharing an email sent to me by Holly a month after she was released from CBS. As I said before, I never had the ability / authority to get someone fired. in [the show] and Ms. Peete’s email speaks for itself. “

Deadline was the first to report the news of a hiatus.
