McClintock “died peacefully while sleeping at home” on February 16, says the obituary.
McClintock was best known for her dresses, especially bridal and prom designs “based on the ideal of romance and beauty,” wrote Steve Rubenstein of the Chronicle. “Her name has become synonymous with significant events in a woman’s life … baptism, graduation, graduation, engagement and marriage,” he writes.
The website says that the “ideal of romance” infuses the Jessica McClintock brand. “Jessica was one of the first to adopt the concept of empowering young women and women of all ages to live their best lives with confidence,” says the document.
McClintock leaves his son Scott and will be buried with his family in Presque Isle, Maine. A celebration of his life is planned for later this year in San Francisco, according to the Chronicle’s obituary.
