Intel Core i5 Rocket Lake CPUs that include Core i5-11600KF and Core i5-11400F 6 Core chips have been compared and their performance results have been leaked on China’s Chiphell Forums (via Harukaze5719) Both CPUs are part of the 11th generation Core i5 family and will have 6 cores and 12 threads each.
Leak of CPU benchmarks for Intel Core i5-11600KF and Core i5-11400F 6 Core Rocket Lake Desktop
Intel Core i5 Rocket Lake CPUs will be the choice for conventional gamers. The CPUs will compete with the AMD Ryzen 5 line, which also has 6 cores and 12 threads and has the 5600X and 5600 as its main competitors. The following are the detailed specifications for both CPUs.
Intel Core i5-11600KF 6 Core and 12 Thread Rocket Lake Desktop CPU
The Intel Core i5-11600K is a 6-core chip with 12 threads. The processor must compete with the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, which is a phenomenal CPU in its own right. Core i5-11600K is said to have a clock speed of 4.9 GHz on a single and 4.6 GHz on all cores. Please note that TVB will not be available on SKUs below Core i9 models, so we should not expect an extended frequency cap on Core i7 and Core i5 SKUs. The chip will have 12 MB of L3 cache and 3 MB of L2 cache.
Now, the main proving ground for this chip against the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X will be its performance in relation to the price value. The Ryzen 5 5600X with an MSRP of $ 299 is slightly higher in terms of price when compared to its predecessor. The Core i5-11600K, on the other hand, will replace the Core i5-10600K, which has a retail price of around $ 260.
If Intel stays with its existing pricing strategy, the Core i5-11600K could really become a hot selling chip in the mainstream gaming market. With that said, we also have to take into account the availability of the Core i5-11600K. Technically, conventional SKUs are not much affected by supply problems such as the Ryzen 5 5600X, but a short delay in inventory may result in Intel missing out on the opportunity to create a tooth in AMD’s Ryzen 5 segment. Consumers have seen what AMD has offered as a successor to its Ryzen 5 3600X, so now it’s time to see what the successor to the Core i5-10600K can do.
Intel Core i5-11400F 6 Core CPU and 12 Thread Rocket Lake Desktop
The Intel Core i5-11400F is a locked, non-K 11th generation Rocket Lake desktop CPU. Intel is not moving away from locked chips anytime soon, as this will swallow sales of its K series SKUs. Core i5- 11400, as such, will be a 6-core and 12-threaded chip with a core configuration similar to the Core i5-11600K, but clock speeds below 4.4 GHz (1 core boost) and 4.2 GHz (boost) all cores) for Core i5-11400.
The chip will have a standard power limit of 65W PL1 and 125W PL2. Although the CPU does not technically support overclocking, motherboard vendors will incorporate BIOS and features to increase the power limits of non-K SKUs for Rocket Lake chips. This would produce a higher base and more stable boost frequencies. So in general, you will get performance similar to that of the K series SKUs at a lower price.
Intel Core i5-11600KF and Core i5-11400F Rocket Lake 6 Core CPU performance benchmarks
The Intel Core i5-11600KF and Core i5-11400F do not have integrated graphics, so they are labeled ‘F’. For the test, the tester used the Gigabyte Z490 AORUS Ultra motherboard with the latest BIOS, a 16 GB memory kit composed of DIMMs classified in DDR4-3600 (CL17-19-19-39) and an AIO liquid cooler 360 mm with 350W cooling capacity. The cooler should be sufficient to handle both chips, as the Core i5-11600KF peaks with a PL2 rating of around 220-225W. The benchmarks can be seen below:
As for power and temperatures, the tester also tested the two Intel Rocket Lake Desktop CPUs inside AIDA64. Core i5-11600KF peaked at 210W with a maximum reported temperature of 85C, while Core i5-11400 peaked at 145W with a reported maximum temperature of 70C. The tester also tried to overclock the Core i5-11600KF, but the BIOS or chip (sample ES) was not stable and only managed 4.8 GHz at 1.325 V, which resulted in higher temperatures and power consumption.
In addition to these tests, YouTuber, responsible for Tobi’s hardware, simulated the Core i5-11600K’s performance, but disabled two cores on his Intel Core i7-11700K CPU. Core i7 still has a bigger cache than Core i5-11600K, but it offers a good preview of Core i5-11600K compared to an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU. The various games tested by users with both CPUs clocked at the same 4.6 GHz and Rocket Lake speeds ended up being faster than Zen 3. You can see the full video of the tests below:
Intel Rocket Lake Desktop CPUs will launch on March 30, however, pre-orders will be open on March 16. Please note that analyzes for the chip will also not be published until March 30th.
