Elderly woman killed in Lancaster County, SC House Fire

LANCASTER COUNTY, SC – An investigation is underway after a woman was killed in a fire in a house in Lancaster County on Friday morning, according to authorities.

Firefighters responded to the South Carolina home located on South Potter Road at around 2 am

Lancaster County police officers arrived at the scene first and were informed that the victim was inside the house. The deputy tried to locate the person, but was unsuccessful.

When firefighters responded to the scene, they managed to control the fire in an hour. The victim, reported to be a 68-year-old woman, was located and pronounced dead.

Authorities did not say how the fire started.

Investigators from the sheriff’s office were summoned along with the Lancaster County fireman and arson investigators from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

The fire was not determined as a result of an arson and is under investigation.
