Baseball No. 19 hits No. 12 South Carolina 4-1

Austin, Texas – 19th place in Texas Baseball maintained 12th place in South Carolina with just one run in four strokes and came out with a 4-1 win on Friday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Zach Zubia hit a two-race double clutch in the eighth inning to drive the game’s victories.

Ty Madden it was excellent again, throwing seven entries and allowing only one run in three strokes. He hit five hitters to increase his season total to 35 kills in 27 throws.

Aaron Nixon it left the bullpen and was erased, launching two shutout entries and allowing only one hit. He hit three hitters and won his first win of the season.

South Carolina entered the frame first with a run in the second entry. The Gamecocks took advantage of two walks at the entrance, but Madden was able to limit the damage to just one run.

The Longhorns resumed the race at the end of the second after Trey Faltine started the entry with a double. He moved up to third place in a wild field and scored when Mitchell Daly lined up a single RBI in the middle to tie the game 1-1.

With the game still tied at 1-1 going to the end of the eighth, Eric Kennedy got things started with a triple advantage on the right field line. Mike Antico followed with a walk and promptly stole second base. Zubia then delivered, lining up a two-race duo on the right field line. DJ Petrinsky drove in Zubia with an RBI single to center field.

Douglas Hodo III, Kennedy and Faltine ended the game with two hits each, contributing to the Longhorns’ total of 11 hits.
