I lost my job at the ‘GMB’ for not apologizing for Meghan

Piers Morgan says he is the last victim of the culture of cancellation after he left Good Morning Britain for saying he did not believe in Meghan Markle.

“Those of you who know me well enough know that, despite my many shortcomings, I am always willing to defend my position for the things I consider most important,” he wrote in a long note on social media on Friday, adding that opposition to the Iraq War and their views on US gun laws have led to earlier layoffs by the Daily Mirror and CNN.

“And now I lost my job at Good Morning Britain because I chose not to apologize for not believing Meghan Markle’s claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey,” he continued.

Morgan, who has a well-documented thorny relationship with the Duchess of Sussex, doubled his comments on his disbelief in Markle’s statements about racism and suicidal thoughts, the day after he left the ITV program. Although he referred to himself as a “victim”, he stated that he did not.

“Thus, I became the last ‘victim’ of the culture of cancellation that is permeating our country, every minute, every hour, every day,” he wrote. “Although, of course, I don’t consider myself a victim, nor really canceled.”

Morgan, 55, stressed the importance of freedom of expression, calling it the “most important issue” in his career and in British society. This freedom allowed him to direct his message towards the promotion of his book “Wake Up” on Amazon.

“As I said when I left the GMB, the right to freedom of expression is a hill that is worth dying for,” he ended his note. “… This is not simply an act of challenge, but a commitment to our collective future.”
