New York Jets: Draft Picks for 2021

The launch of the official order by the NFL is close for all 259 teams in the 2021 draft. That moment got closer and closer with the league’s announcement on Wednesday of 36 compensatory choices being awarded to 17 teams.

Prior to the official announcement, the Jets have nine selections as reported, five of them own in the first five rounds and four acquired in negotiations – first and third round choices (plus a first round next year) from Seattle in the July S exchange Jamal Adams, a player from the Giants’ fifth round to complete DL’s exchange Leonard Williams in October 2019 and a choice of the New England 6th round.

There were five choices among the top 87, but the Patriots’ 13th choice in Round 3, 75th overall, was lost, beating all choices on one step.

The Jets previously negotiated their sixth round with the Patriots in September 2019 by WR Demaryius Thomas, but received the same choice as the Patriots in switching the 2020 draft day from the AFC East teams to the third and fourth round selections.

With the Seahawks’ choices, the Jets have five choices from the top 86 of this year’s draft, which will be played from April 29 to May 1 in Cleveland. These are the most choices among the top 100 by the Jets, as they also had five choices among the top 100 in the 2006 and 2000 draft. They set their record for the top 100 draft with six of the first 91 choices in the 1984 draft.

The Jets also negotiated two choices – their selection from the sixth round that went to the Patriots in the original D. Thomas deal in 2019 and their seventh round, which they sent to San Francisco along with DL Jordan Willis for the sixth round of the 49ers. round choice in 2022.

This is where the Jets’ choices are expected to fall in just over seven weeks:
