Receiver John Brown became one of many championship victims in 2021, following his release by the Bills. He already has some potential destinations in mind.
“It depends on who needs receivers,” Brown told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday. “You know, Pittsburgh Steelers, Big Ben is definitely good with the deep ball, and Indianapolis Colts, the way they use TY Hilton. When we played these guys in the playoffs last year, I went out and I was like, this team, they are growing and coming, they will be a problem for years to come. So, you know, I have options, I feel like I would fit anywhere, but those are just the two main ones. Anywhere, I can come in and help and be a little piece of the puzzle, or if they need me to be a big piece to help guys get out and move and do what I have to do. However, these are the two main teams. “
Steelers don’t really need receivers, however. They have a large young core of players who have chosen and developed in the position. As for the Colts, Hilton is becoming a free agent; perhaps there was an opportunity for Brown.
Despite everything, things ended up in Buffalo. And they ended abruptly.
“We didn’t know anything, they didn’t even warn us,” said Brown. “But I really believe in God and I had a feeling that this moment would come, especially when the money fell. And I dealt with some injuries, so I lost, like, five games, so the team went 5-0 without me. . . . I don’t know if they gave Josh Allen’s opinion on that. . . . [H]and should have had entry. Or, if he had a stake, I thought he would like me to stay. “
Regardless of who participated or not, Brown is now available. The sad reality for him may be that he will fall into that wide range of veteran players who will be pressured to win peanuts this year due to the unprecedented drop in the salary cap.
