All about the alleged update of Apple’s iPad Pro to 2021

We heard rumors about the iPad Pro 2021 update. The main change is likely to be the mini-LED screen technology that will appear on the 12.9-inch model. As rumors suggest that an Apple event will be held on March 23, here’s everything we know about the impending iPad Pro update …

The fourth generation of the iPad Pro was launched in March 2020 with minor updates. Apple announced the device with a press release. The main changes were the LiDAR Scanner, first introduced in an Apple product, and the A12Z chip, a variant of the A12 series. The most exciting news was the introduction of the Magic Keyboard with trackpad, which also works on the third generation iPad Pro (and now on the fourth generation iPad Air).

For the 2021 update of the iPad Pro, we can expect new features, although in January the supply chain outlet Macotakara said that this model will not have a newer design. Currently, rumors indicate that Apple will hold an event on March 23, and it may be when the new iPad Pro is officially announced.

The reports further suggest that the new iPad Pro will be launched in the first quarter of 2021. According to DigiTimes, mini-LED technology will be the main change in this year’s iPad lineup.

For now, all iPads have LCD screens, which need backlight. With the introduction of the mini-LED, much smaller LEDs are used, which provides much greater control of localized background lighting, allowing for greater brightness and deeper blacks. The combination increases the contrast ratio and uses less energy.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is likely to be Apple’s first product with mini-LED technology. Basically, only Apple Watch and iPhones use an OLED screen. Other devices, including the iPad and MacBook, use an LCD screen. The introduction of mini-LED screen technology in the fifth generation iPad Pro will open the possibility for more Apple products to embrace this feature, such as rumors of the 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pro.

It is important to note that, for now, only the 12.9-inch iPad Pro model will receive mini-LED screen technology, with the 11-inch model arriving sometime in the future. According to several reports and analysts, this new iPad Pro will have a chip based on the A14, the same processor available on the fourth generation of the iPad Air, and on the iPhone 12 line.

It is not clear whether the chip will be called A14X or A14Z, but it will perform better than the previous model.

The iPad Pro may also receive a minor update to its cameras, such as Smart HDR 3 and Dolby Vision recording technology, introduced with the iPhone 12.

New Apple Pencil and release date

Last week, a new leak of Apple pencils surfaced on the internet. With a brilliant design, this could be a new accessory for the iPad Pro. Although this Apple Pencil looks like the first generation model, we cannot see a Lightning port, so that could mean that it is for the latest iPads.

Remember that the second generation Apple Pencil charges when connected to the iPad Pro model (third generation or newer) and iPad Air (fourth generation for now).

The Magic Keyboard will likely remain the same, and there are no rumors indicating a MagSafe accessory for the iPad line in the near future.

If Apple launches the fifth generation iPad Pro during an event on March 23, it may be available next Friday, March 26. It is not clear whether Apple will give this iPad new colors, new storage options or 5G capacity. The iPad Pro currently comes in Silver and Space Gray, 128 GB up to 1 TB of storage and with LTE connection.
