Last year, the Giants’ offensive attack, Nate Solder, opted out of the season, in part because his son was battling cancer. Solder’s son is now better and he is interested in returning to the field.
But this is not true. Solder wrote to TheIncrease.com that although he is still under contract with the Giants, he is unsure whether he will have a job for the 2020 season.
“Now I am in a place where, if I am offered another chance to play football, I will probably enjoy it. But I am grateful for the decision I made last year for my family and community, ”wrote Solder.
Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has been talking about getting younger on the offensive line, and the Giants can save some space on the edge by cutting Solder, so it won’t be a surprise if he is no longer a giant in 2021.
Solder wrote that a large part of him wanted to be there with his team in 2020, but he also acknowledged that a year off was the right thing for his family.
“The opportunity to play in the NFL again at the age of 32 is not great; I don’t know what will happen from now on, ”wrote Solder. “The amount of revenue I lost from not playing for one season was significant. The dependence that I felt my team had on me to protect the quarterback was really weighing on my heart. It was not an easy decision. “
Now Solder can face more decisions about where to play in 2021.
