Winner of 10 consecutive games, Texas A&M won its first regular season title at the Southeast Conference on Sunday, closing the season with victories this week over Alabama and South Carolina by being named NCAA.com Team of the Week.
The 65-57 victory over South Carolina No. 5 on Sunday was Texas A&M’s ninth victory this season over a ranked opponent, who leads the country. Texas A&M (22-1, 13-1 SEC) ended the season 13-0 at home. Aggies won their first regular season championship conference since 2006-07 Big 12 Championship, and the first since joining the SEC in 2012-13.

In the home win that won the Gamecocks title, Aaliyah Wilson scored 17 points and N’dea Jones added 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead Texas A&M. The Gamecocks lost to up to 14 in the fourth period, but reduced the lead to three in a 3-point basket from Aliyah Boston with about three minutes to go. Wilson increased Texas A&M’s lead to 62-57 in a basket with less than 90 seconds remaining and Kayla Wells added two free throws with 12 seconds remaining to guarantee victory. With 14 rebounds, Jones became the all-time leader of Texas A&M in rebounds, with 1,010 rebounds.
Earlier in the week of February 25, Jordan Nixon and Wells each scored 16 points in the 73-67 victory for the Aggies in Alabama. Nixon and Wells combined contributed 10 points during a 19-3 run for Texas A&M to close the second quarter, which essentially put the game out of Crimson Tide’s reach.

The third overall ranking in the latest edition of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee, revealed on February 28, Texas A&M on March 1, received its highest rating in the Associated Press Top-25 survey in the program’s history, coming in at No. 2 in the last installment, behind No. 1 UConn.
Aggies are the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament that will be held in Greenville, SC, at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, from March 3rd to 7th. Texas A&M will face the winner of the Mississippi State-LSU game on Friday, March 5.
