Piers Morgan left Good Morning Britain after controversial comments he made about Meghan Markle.
ITV faced widespread calls to fire the divisive presenter after he cast doubt on Meghan’s revelation during his interview with Oprah Winfrey that she had thoughts of suicide after joining the royal family.

ITV Piers Morgan left Good Morning Britain
The network has now confirmed that Piers left his role as co-host three days a week on his main breakfast program.
In a statement, a spokesman said: “After discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan decided that now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.
“ITV accepted this decision and has nothing more to add.”
The news came after the watchdog of TV Ofcom confirmed that it had launched an investigation into the program, after receiving more than 41,000 complaints about Monday’s episode.
He said he would investigate the program according to the rules of harm and offense.
Piers’ comments came after Meghan told Oprah Winfrey during her US television interview about how there was a time when she “didn’t want to be alive anymore”.
She continued: “I said that I needed to go somewhere to get help. And I said I never felt this way before. I need to go somewhere. And they told me that I couldn’t, because it wouldn’t be good for the institution ”.
In the following morning’s edition of the GMB, Piers said: “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word of what she says.”
While co-host Susanna Reid shared her shock at Piers’ lack of sympathy, he continued: “I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report and the fact that she fired this attack on our royal family, I think it’s negligible. “
Piers’ comments had previously been condemned by the mental health organization Mind, which works with ITV on its Britain Get Talking initiative.
“We were disappointed and concerned by Piers Morgan’s comments about not believing Meghan’s experiences of suicidal thoughts,” the newspaper said in a statement.
“It is vital that when people seek support or share their experiences of mental health problems, they are treated with dignity, respect and empathy. We are talking to ITV about this at the moment. “
The next day, Piers left the set during an on-air discussion with colleague Alex Beresford about the Duchess, when the climate host questioned his repeated criticism of her.

ITV Piers Morgan stormed the Good Morning Britain set
Suppressing Piers’ “devilish behavior” after he left the studio furious, Alex said: “I’m sorry, but Piers talks too much regularly and we all have to sit there and listen. Six thirty at seven o’clock [on Monday] it was incredibly difficult to watch. Incredibly difficult to watch.
“This … he has the ability to come in here and speak of a position that he doesn’t fully understand.”
