New Mexico COVID-19 update: 209 new cases, totaling 187,238 | NMDOH

Nineteen additional COVID-19 deaths

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced on Tuesday 209 additional cases of COVID-19. According to the State Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

· 85 new cases in Bernalillo County

· 1 new case in Cibola County

· 6 new cases in Curry County

· 37 new cases in Doña Ana County

· 6 new cases in Eddy County

· 3 new cases in Grant County

· 2 new cases in Lea County

· 2 new cases in Lincoln County

· 2 new cases in Luna County

· 6 new cases in McKinley County

· 12 new cases in Otero County

· 5 new cases in the municipality of Rio Arriba

· 12 new cases in Sandoval County

· 3 new cases in San Juan County

· 2 new cases in San Miguel County

· 12 new cases in Santa Fe County

· 1 new case in Taos County

· 3 new cases in Union County

· 9 new cases in the county of Valencia

The Department of Health reported on Tuesday nineteen additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19:

· A man in his 80s in Curry County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A second man in his 80s in Curry County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.

· A 70-year-old man from De Baca County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.

· A 70-year-old man from Doña Ana County.

· A second man in his 70s in Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A third man in his 70s in Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying illnesses.

· An 80-year-old man from Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A woman in her 50s in Eddy County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A man in his 50s in Eddy County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.

· A man in his 50s in Lea County.

· A woman in her 60s in Lea County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A man in his 60s in Lea County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A man in his 70s in Lea County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A man in his 80s in Lea County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.

· A man in his fifties in Luna County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A second man in his fifties in Luna County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A third man in his 50s in Luna County. The individual was hospitalized.

· A man in his 70s in Otero County. The individual had underlying conditions.

· A man in his 30s in Valencia County. The individual was hospitalized.

Note: NMDOH received 14 death certificates from the state of Texas on March 8, issued between 1/20/2021 and 2/20/2021 – these deaths are included in today’s update. The death toll of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 3,830.

The ten postal codes across the state with the most COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, March 9 are: Daily case counts and test numbers are raw data based on the information the state receives today – that is, data that have not yet been examined to identify potential duplicates or positive or negative results of late arrival. In contrast, the county level analysis of Red Yellow Green provides a highly accurate image for a period of two weeks.

As of today, there are 128 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals tested positive for COVID-19 outside the state, but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This figure does not include new Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to an out-of-state hospital.

To date, there are 158,616 COVID-19 cases designated as having been recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.

The Department of Health has detected spread across the community in the state of New Mexico and is investigating cases without known exposure. The agency reports that, given the infectious nature of the virus, other residents are likely to be infected, but have not yet been tested or confirmed as positive. For this purpose, all new Mexicans have been instructed to stay at home, except for tours absolutely necessary for health, safety and well-being. These additional restrictions have been enacted to aggressively minimize person-to-person contact and ensure that spread is mitigated.
