Sharon Osbourne defended Piers Morgan’s criticism of Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey after he left Good Morning Britain.
“@piersmorgan I’m with you. I’m in your side. People forget that you get paid for your opinion and that you’re just telling the truth, ”Osbourne, 68, tweeted on Tuesday.
She and her husband Ozzy Osbourne have been friends with Morgan for years and even opened up to the television host in an exclusive interview about the rocker’s diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
Like Morgan, the Osbournes appear to be on the side of Buckingham Palace, while the lead singer of Black Sabbath performed for Queen Elizabeth II during her Golden Jubilee pop show in 2002. Sharon said she accidentally grabbed Camilla Parker-Bowles’ breasts on the show.
ITV announced on Tuesday that Morgan resigned from the post on the talk show.
“After discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan decided that now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” the network said in a statement. “ITV accepted this decision and has nothing more to add.”
Morgan gave up shortly after leaving the set during a heated argument over Meghan and Prince Harry’s interview on Oprah, where his castmate Alex Beresford criticized him for his harsh opinions about the royal couple.
“I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You made that very clear on this show several times, and I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she interrupted you, ”said Beresford. “Did she say anything about you after she cut you off? She has the right to interrupt you, if she wants to. And yet you continue to destroy it. “
Morgan then left the set, calling his co-star’s words “diabolical”. Later, he tweeted that he was just “annoyed”, so “went for a little relaxation and came back to end the discussion”.
But, hours later, Morgan gave up his position on the program.
Morgan was openly critical of Meghan and Harry’s decision to give an interview to CBS about their experience with the royal family and called the ordeal “two hours of rubbish out there” and “an absolutely shameful betrayal of the Queen and the royal family. “
The actress opened up about having suicidal thoughts, as well as why she and Harry decided to leave royalty during the CBS interview with Oprah on Sunday. They also revealed that someone in the royal family was “concerned” about the color of their son Archie’s skin.
The Queen has since issued a statement about telling everything, saying: “The issues raised, especially that of race, are worrying. Although some memories may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be handled by the family in particular. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be dear family members. “
