Time is ticking for the Chicago Bears. They have until 3:00 PM CST on Tuesday to place the franchise tag on WR Allen Robinson.
Robinson and his team made it very clear how they feel about the lack of an extension of the contract. The whole saga started in September, when the star’s great receiver removed all things related to the Bears from their social networks. However, the Bears themselves have repeatedly said how much they appreciate Robinson and how valuable he is to the team. However, almost six months later, the stalemate continues.
The conflicting reports lead us to believe that nothing has changed in the saga. They are no longer near or far in a new agreement. Which leaves only one option if Robinson will run for the Bears next year, the franchise’s dreaded brand.
If the Bears were to franchise Allen Robinson’s label, the price would be $ 18 million fully guaranteed. The Bears / Robinson meeting leaves one less void on the list to worry about. As it stands, outside of Robinson, the only other reliable wide receiver currently on the list is Darnell Mooney.
However, if the Bears let Robinson hit the market, that would free up $ 18 million to use elsewhere on the list. To replace Robinson, the team will have to enter the market for another receiver or select one. To be honest, they could do both.
