Kate Middleton is celebrating International Women’s Day with an ambitious young woman.
Just a day after her brother-in-law Prince Harry and sister-in-law Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a revealing interview, the royal family shared a video of Kate’s video chat with Jasmine Harrison, who recently became the youngest woman to complete a solo line across the Atlantic Ocean at just 21 years old.
Harrison completed the 3,000-mile record line on February 20, representing the RudderlyMad team to raise money for ShelterBox and the Blue Marine Foundation. The trip took 70 days, three hours and 48 minutes.
From Antigua, Harrison told Kate about his training and the women who came before her, noting that the achievement shows what women are capable of.
“I think so many opportunities are closed or simply not available for women to see, that we don’t know if that is something you can do,” said Harrison.

“That’s why I wanted to talk to you,” said Kate, 39. “I think you are a great inspiration for young women out there. You are so right – unless these things are talked about and displayed, you will never notice the opportunities to come.”
Jasmine Harrison became the youngest woman to row alone in the Atlantic – completing the record 3,000 mile line on February 20 at age 21.

During Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, compared her negative treatment in the press to that of her sister-in-law.
“Kate was called Waity Katie, hoping to marry William, although I imagine it was very difficult and I think … this is not the same and if a member of your family comfortably says that we all had to deal with things that are rude. Rude and racist are not the same thing. “—Meghan #OprahMeghanHarry pic.twitter.com/2QWtDh24ef
