If you are not in a hurry, you may want to wait for one of the successors of these watches, as they are apparently not too far apart.
According Ice Universe, which had a decent history of leaks from Samsung, Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch Active4 are expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2021. If you’re wondering where Active3 is, there may not be one. This is not the first time that Samsung omits numbers (read: the jump from Galaxy Note5 to Note7) to ensure consistency of names across different product lines.

Watch4 is expected to support blood glucose monitoring, which allegedly uses technology based on Raman spectroscopy. What is more interesting, however, is the rumor that Samsung abandoned TizenOS for Android. There is no obvious reason for the change, but it could be due to the developer’s lack of interest in TizenOS, Samsung’s increasingly close relationship with Google, or a little bit of both. It is also unclear whether these watches will use the vanilla Wear OS or a modified version of it – the latter is more likely, in my opinion.
If Samsung is really planning to launch Watch4 and Active Watch4 in the second quarter of 2021, we can expect to hear a lot more about them through leaks and teasers in the coming weeks.
