People in Galveston County on Friday morning began receiving urgent messages alerting them to important but good news.
The county waiting list for COVID-19 vaccines is now open to everyone, regardless of age or health – and health officials want you to apply now.
Technically, the waiting list has been open to everyone since it was created in February. But officials have prioritized the inclusion of qualified people, including people over 65 or with pre-existing health problems, on the list.
Joining the waiting list does not necessarily mean that people will be vaccinated sooner, officials said. But an effort is being made to ensure that qualified people have been reached and in anticipation of state and federal officials opening vaccines to more people in the coming weeks.
