The Bears continue to connect with Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, and that excites fans.
But he has not yet explicitly asked for an exchange.
“I hope the Bears will at least give it a try here,” said Jeremy Fowler at SportsCenter. “A source told me that Russell Wilson likes the fact that they have an emerging offensive line, a good and solid offensive spirit coach at Matt Nagy and have an intriguing market in Chicago.”
We’ve heard the reasons why Wilson loves Chicago before, here comes the good stuff.
“I keep hearing from the Seattle side, the Seahawks are not going to negotiate with him. They have nothing going on. Russel Wilson himself does not expect to be negotiated right now, but Wilson is watching the situation closely because he wants more … he wants to be better protected, some plans for the future.
“And if he doesn’t feel like he’s going to make it in the next few weeks or months, he can make it even more difficult, raise the stakes publicly. So, we’ll see, maybe that opens the door for the Bears.”
So, some lessons from the Fowler report …
1. The Bears are going to take their shot
2. Since Russell Wilson has not yet asked for an exchange, this does not mean that he will not do so in this off season.
He then mentioned Alex Smith as a backup plan and said that Mitchell Trubisky’s return is less likely.
