According to Daniel Greenberg, who is @ChiSportUpdates on Twitter, the Chicago Bears will not bring back the restricted free agent Rashaad Coward.
Coward was originally hired by the Bears as a non-hired free agent in 2017, after playing on the defensive line in Old Dominion. Most of his debut season was spent on the training team, but he entered a game that year. The following season, he was moved to the offensive line and spent the entire year of 2018 on the training team working on his new vessel.
In 2019 and 2020, he appeared in 29 games, with 15 starts along the attack line, both in the tackle and in the guard.
As a restricted free agent, the Bears would have to offer him an offer that would give them the right of first refusal if he signed an offer sheet with another team. The lowest offer would have potentially cost the Bears $ 2.33 million, so by not making an offer, Coward will become a free agent.
The Bears have another RFA on the list, kicker Eddy Pineiro, and for that price I would assume that they would allow him to become a free agent as well.
