Apex Legends‘new queue is made for the bravest players – or just those looking to get in and out of a match with minimal fuss. Season 8 of Apex Legends it is full of new additions, from changes in balance to a death trap full of toxic caustic mines. The most interesting feature may just be the new queue system, No-Fill Matchmaking, which allows players to abandon their teammates and enter the game completely on their own.
When players are in the lobby, they will see a checkbox called “Fill Matchmaking”. This is the standard form of play; if you get in line alone, you will be paired with a squad of Duos or Trios. However, adventurers can uncheck the box, which means they will be a team of one.
This should not be the primary way to play – there will only be up to six solo players in any game, and you cannot play alone in the game’s Ranked mode. The developer Respawn Entertainment suggests the following scenarios as being ideal for No-Fill queues:
Focus on completing certain daily and weekly challenges
Warm up, warm up and get into many fights
Challenge yourself – can you win a round of Duos alone? How about Trios?
Experience the latest lore teaser on your own
Explore the map and experience characters you’ve never experienced before; Take the opportunity to learn a little more about the game at your own pace.
The season 8 update for Apex Legends it also includes a playlist called Ring Fury, where death walls explode all over the map. Players can avoid these rings of fire or drop a heat shield to mitigate damage and survive the flames. As the event continues, the Ring’s Fury points will become even more dangerous and common, so keep an eye out.
Water Treatment has also been replaced by Caustic Treatment. This is a part of the high-risk, high-reward map, full of traps and mines that can easily kill a Legend. The Mirage Voyage cruise has changed, and Respawn suggests it will be “back when you least expect it”.
