Rumors that Tobey Maguire will appear in Spider-Man: no way home apparently they were crushed. So, how are we going to see it in the Marvel cinematic universe? Thanks YouTuber Shamook for a new deepfake featuring Maguire in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home and Avengers: Infinity War scenes in place of current Spider-Man Tom Netherlands.

Check out the disturbingly perfect video below:

Although Maguire looks a bit like a bobble head with a disproportionately small body in some scenes, most of the time he seems to be at home. In fact, this deep false reveals the similarities between the features of Holland and Maguire: the hair, the eyebrows, the mouth.

Not to lessen the mood, but the more alarming use of deepfake technology is once again in the spotlight: a visual effects artist recently created a series of Tom Cruise’s viral deepfakes doing things like doing magic tricks or playing golf. The implications of technology, which has been used to disrupt elections and violate people’s privacy, are a step away from the film that plays deepfakes.

Shamook also tried to insert Maguire in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man in place of Andrew Garfield. Does it work in any way?

Catch Holland (not Maguire) in Spider-Man: No Way Home, due out for Christmas.
