State of Alabama and State of SC agree on home and home

The states of South Carolina and Alabama will form an impromptu MEAC / SWAC challenge next month.

SC State and Alabama State will play a series of football at home against each other, according to an ASU statement.

ASU will return the favor, but it will take a while. The two teams will meet in Orangeburg, SC, on September 16, 2023.

This announcement was made a day after the state of South Carolina agreed to play Alabama A&M from SWAC on March 6, 2021. This game was scheduled quickly after SC state discovered its home and home series in the spring of 2021 against Howard University was canceled due to travel restrictions on residents of the District of Columbia. SC State is one of only three MEAC football programs on display in the spring of 2021.

ASU opened its season last Friday with a 24-21 loss to Southern University. It was originally scheduled to play in Lorman, Mississippi, in the state of Alcorn, before Alcorn chose not to participate in the spring football season of 2021.
