More than three-quarters of a million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Utah, and more than a quarter of a million Utahns have received the second dose of the vaccine. That is about 8.4% of the state’s population who received two doses.
Utah reported seven more deaths on Wednesday; five of them occurred before February 10 and have only recently been confirmed to be related to the coronavirus. The state coroner determined that one of the deaths reported on Monday – a man in Iron County, aged 65 to 84 – was not caused by COVID-19, and the man’s death was removed from the state count.
Vaccinations given the day before / total vaccinations • 18,236 / 759,533.
Number of Utahns who received two doses • 269,368.
Cases reported the previous day • 729.
Deaths reported the day before • Seven.
Salt Lake County reported five deaths: a man and a woman between the ages of 45 and 64; a man and a woman 65-84; and a woman over 85 years old.
There was one death in each Box Elder and Washington county, both men between 65 and 84 years old.
Hospitalizations reported the previous day • 212. This is a drop from Tuesday. Of those currently hospitalized, 92 are in intensive care units – the same as on Tuesday.
Tests reported the day before • 8,249 people were tested for the first time. A total of 21,267 people were tested.
Percentage of positive tests • In the original state method, the rate is 8.8%. This is less than the 10.2% seven-day average.
His new method counts all test results, including repeated tests from the same individual. Wednesday’s rate is now at 3.4%, below the seven-day average of 4.8%.

Totals to date • 372,708 cases; 1,949 deaths; 14,783 hospitalizations; 2,222,755 people tested.
