Paris Hilton is looking back on an appearance on “The Late Show With David Letterman”.
In September 2007, the star appeared on the talk show to promote a new perfume, but was quickly forced to talk about her brief stint in prison for breach of parole.
In the past few months, Hilton, now 40, has been talking a lot about her life in the limelight and her public image – including the interview with Letterman, which she discussed in an episode of her podcast “This Is Paris”, by E! News.
The star said she dodged Letterman’s team’s requests for an appearance on the show for a while because she “didn’t want to talk about” her phrase before finally agreeing to promote the fragrance.

In addition, she explained that the talk show host team agreed to avoid the subject during the next interview.

“It was off-limits and he wouldn’t discuss it and we would just be there to promote perfume and my other endeavors,” said Hilton on the podcast. “I felt it was a safe place because I have been at Letterman for many years.”
She added: “He always had fun with me and played, but I thought he would keep his word about it and I was wrong.”
However, it was not long before the interview, the famous comedian brought her time behind bars, asking bluntly how she liked it.
On the podcast, the “Stars Are Blind” singer said Letterman was “pushing and shoving me” to talk about his prison sentence, despite agreeing to avoid it.

“I was getting very uncomfortable and very upset,” she explained. “Just being up there, it was like he was purposely trying to humiliate me.”
Hilton said that during commercial breaks, she asked Letterman, now 73, to “stop” asking her about the arrest.
“You promised me you wouldn’t talk about it and that’s the only reason I agreed to go on the show,” she recalls saying.

She said Letterman had agreed to stop talking about his time in prison, but would discuss it as soon as the cameras started rolling again.
“It was very cruel and cruel,” said Hilton. “And after he finished, I looked at him and said, ‘I’m never going to the show again. You crossed the line.'”
After 2007, Letterman apologized by sending her a box of wine.

Paris’s sister, Nicky, said it was “cruel” for the comedian to push into the discussion and added that she “doesn’t think it would happen today”.
A few months later, Hilton returned to the show and the comedian apologized.

“I found out later that I had offended you. I felt terrible because I’m not here to make enemies, honestly,” he said at the time. “So I called you and you answered, which I thought was very kind of you, and now you’re back and thank God, I’m so sorry.”
