Only 257 new COVID-19 cases reported on Monday; five new deaths

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Health reported only 257 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, although it should be said that the case count is generally low after the weekend, when fewer tests are administered.

UDOH also reported five additional deaths.

The seven-day moving average for the percentage of “people over people” positivity is now 11.0.

On Monday, 721,029 vaccines were administered in Utah, and 214 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state.

With the addition of Monday’s deaths, the death toll in Utah is now 1,940:

  • Male, aged 65 to 84, resident of Salt Lake County, hospitalized at the time of death
  • Male, 65-84, resident of Kane County, hospitalized at the time of death
  • Male, between 45 and 64 years old, resident in Salt Lake County, hospitalized at the time of death
  • Male, 65 to 84 years old, resident in Salt Lake County, hospitalized at the time of death
  • Male, between 65 and 84 years old, resident in Iron County, hospitalized at the time of death
