PEMBROKE PARK, Florida. – The Florida governor extended the eligibility of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday by signing an executive order that now allows doctors, nurses and pharmacists the ability to vaccinate people who are considered extremely vulnerable to COVID-19.
According to Governor Ron DeSantis’ addition to the first phase inoculation plans for Florida residents, Executive Order 21-46 states that people considered by a doctor to have a high-risk medical condition will now be able to obtain the COVID vaccine -19 in doctors. offices and pharmacies.
Previously, providers were able to request the vaccine at hospitals for people under 65.
The amended order says that the first phase of administration of the vaccine included people aged 65 and over, residents and employees of long-term care facilities and frontline health professionals. This remains, but in addition, “doctors, licensed under Chapters 458 and 459, Florida Statutes, can vaccinate people they consider to be at risk of contracting COVID-19”.

The application also gives registered nurses and pharmacists the administration of the inoculation after the doctor has determined it.
Those considered high risk by a doctor and over 18 years of age can receive a COVID-19 vaccine and can be vaccinated in pharmacies like Walmart, Sam’s Club, Winn Dixie, Publix and CVS. The executive order does not include state and municipal vaccination sites.
