According to the official PlayStation Status website, parts of PSN are down and in trouble. More specifically, the PlayStation Status website reports that Sony is aware that PS5, PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita players are having “difficulty starting games, applications and network resources”. And according to the support page, these problems have been going on for several hours and, at the moment, there is no news of when they will be resolved.
While PSN games and social elements are having problems, all other aspects of PSN – Account management, PlayStation Now, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Music and PlayStation Direct – are all running smoothly, however, reports are starting to experience problems with buying and downloading games from PlayStation Store.
At the time of publication, it is unclear what the prevalence of the problem is or what the problem is and, as noted, it is also unclear when a solution will be available. Typically, these issues are resolved quickly, however, this has been going on for several hours at this point, which may suggest that it is a bigger problem that Sony may need more time to resolve.
That said, this is a developing story, so we’ll be sure to update it as official updates arrive. At the moment, none of PlayStation’s official social media accounts have addressed the issues, so updates are unlikely to come this way, but PlayStation The status website is in real time and will provide these updates.
