The E3 2021 live event has been canceled according to LA city documents

According to documents from the city of Los Angeles, the E3 2021 physical event has been officially canceled. As detected by the VGC, a new report published by the Council of the Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Development Commission states that the E3 2021 live event has been canceled and that the city is “working with the production team on broadcast options in LA Live / LACC. ” In addition, it is working with ESA on licenses for 2022 and 2023.

This follows ESA’s confirmation that E3 2021 is still happening and that ESA is “transforming the E3 experience for 2021.”

“We can confirm that we are transforming the E3 experience for 2021 and will soon be sharing exact details on how we are uniting the global video game community.” An ESA spokesman said earlier. “We are having great conversations with publishers, developers and companies across the board and we look forward to sharing details about your involvement soon.”

While many assumed that this meant E3 would go digital in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, ESA never explicitly said that the live event was canceled.

A VGC report also detailed some E3 2021 pitch documents that revealed that this revamped show would include “several main two-hour gaming partner sessions, an award show, a viewing night on June 14 and other streams minors from game publishers, influencers and media partners. “
