Coronavirus cases in Los Angeles County have continued to decline since the record peak of the holiday’s fatal increase. On Saturday, Los Angeles Public Health recorded 1,730 new confirmed cases – a significant reduction from the 6,917 cases reported exactly a month ago.
Although falling case statistics and rising vaccination rates look promising, officials urge Angelenos to remain vigilant in the practice of the security protocol, as the virus continues to claim lives. In addition to new cases, the authorities also reported 93 new deaths and 1,733 current hospitalizations.
The latest coronavirus counts for Los Angeles County occurred at the time the FDA approved Johnson & Johnson’s One-shot Covid-19 vaccine. Patients receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will need only one injection, as opposed to the two doses required for Modern and Pfizer vaccines.
On Friday, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California will receive a large shipment of the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine.
The latest Los Angeles count also came in the wake of the House’s approval of Covid-19’s $ 1.9 trillion relief and recovery project. To date, Los Angeles County officials have reported a total of 1,190,894 cases of coronavirus and 21,328 deaths caused by the virus.
