Conwell shot Duluth K-9 Luna Police Department on Thursday night. Luna was taken to a local pet hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A procession for Luna on Saturday started at the animal hospital and ended at a cremation company in Scanlon.
Duluth police officers responded to a report of a possible domestic disturbance at around 8 pm on Thursday at 2300 block of West Fourth Street. Conwell shot Luna while officers searched the house.
The impasse started soon after, when the Duluth Tactical Response Team was dispatched to the scene, according to BCA.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s emergency response team took over after 10 am. The standoff ended when sheriff’s deputies killed Conwell at about 4 pm Friday.
BCA did not identify the deputies who fired the weapons during the incident. Luna was the only police member injured during the confrontation.
BCA investigators are analyzing images from the body’s cameras and interviewing police officers involved in the incident to get a complete picture of what happened.
