Texans launch pair of attack line veterans that could interest Steelers

In what is certainly a trend in the league until the start of the new year of the league, the Houston Texans made two cuts from veteran strikers. Both could interest the Pittsburgh Steelers. Earlier in the week, the team dismissed swingman Senio Kelemete. And yesterday, they cut the old pivot Nick Martin.

Kelemete is the most economical option. Completing May 31, he made 22 career starts in his eight years in the NFL. Most of the time he was on guard, but he has the flexibility to play up and down the line, even including the pivot in a dispute. He didn’t register much or any pivot pressure in a regular season game, but he absorbed the preseason representatives there during his time with the New Orleans Saints. In college with Washington, he switched from defensive tackle to right guard to left tackle. It is a cheap and versatile option for an offensive Steelers line with many holes to fill, even though it is a better reserve than the initial one.

Martin is the best – and most expensive option. Turning 28 in April, he started all 16 games in the past three seasons for Houston. Better known for his pass blocking than race blocking, he immediately becomes one of the best free agent centers on the market, joining Corey Linsley of the Green Bay Packers, who must test open water. We follow Martin’s entire career, highlighting him as a highlight in the 2016 Senior Bowl.

There is no obvious connection that links players to the Steelers. Besides the fact that this is a Pittsburgh team about to need a little help on the offensive line, both in the top five and for depth purposes. Kelemete and Martin are just two names to remember during the free agency. Or even earlier. As both players have been released, they are free to sign at any time.

Put it this way. These two Texans are infinitely more likely to become Steelers than JJ Watt.
