Boeing 777 makes emergency landing in Moscow

A Boeing 777 cargo plane operated by Rossiya Airlines made an emergency landing on Friday at Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow after a problem was discovered with the aircraft’s engine control sensor, according to Reuters.

Rossiya Airlines flight 4520 was traveling from Hong Kong to Madrid on Friday morning when the crew requested a landing in Moscow, the news agency noted.

The plane, the New York Times reported, was a cargo flight and carried 25 people and 36 metric tons of cargo.

“The landing took place normally,” Rossiya said in a statement to Reuters. The airlines also reported that the flight was scheduled to continue to Madrid on Friday morning.

This is the second recent case of problems with a Boeing 777.

Over the weekend, a Boeing 777 left debris falling in the Denver area after an engine failure. Separately, a Boeing 747 cargo plane had an engine problem while flying over the Netherlands last week.

The plane that made the emergency landing in Russia had a General Electric engine, while the other two planes had engines developed by Pratt & Whitney.
