Publix will begin offering consultations for the COVID-19 vaccine in all 730 of its in-store pharmacies, grocer Lakeland announced on Thursday.
Starting on Friday morning, Publix’s vaccine registration system will have newly expanded availability and will include 136 new stores in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The nomination system will also include vacancies in Citrus and Hernando counties, which were interrupted due to delays in sending vaccines last week.
“We are pleased to bring appointment opportunities to each of our pharmacies in Florida,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said in a statement. “We know how important this vaccine is to the people we serve and we are grateful to be able to expand our ability to help our communities during this time of need.”
Publix was the first retail pharmacy to partner with the state to administer the Modern vaccine in Florida. Now Walmart and Winn-Dixie stores are also offering the vaccine across the state.
Floridians who are 65 or older or who work as frontline health professionals are eligible to obtain the vaccine from a retail pharmacist. Appointments can only be made through the Publix online system at publix.com/covidvaccine.
The new set of appointments will be online on Friday at 7am
Online booking systems will normally open with new appointments every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, according to Publix. But the times available during each launch vary and may not include all participating stores or counties.
