Just as Sony folks predict the future with their latest State of Play event, Xbox gamers are unable to log in as the online service is experiencing a major disruption. The most recent update at 5:00 pm Eastern time indicates that Microsoft is working on the issue, but does not provide any type of time predicted for when it will be resolved. According to the Xbox Live Status page, the outage started at around 3:15 PM ET, and there is no sign that anything is improving.
Update: As of 17:10 ET, the most recent update on the status page says “we are close to solving the problem”, so wait.
Update 2: 15 minutes later, and the status is still “closed”, so playing offline (go to network settings and select “go offline”) is working for you, otherwise even a single player’s games are out of the question for While.
Update 3 (18h): Almost three hours have passed and, although the status still says that a resolution is near, everything is still offline.
We are aware that users may not be able to sign in to Xbox Live at this time. Our teams are investigating to correct this problem. We’ll update here and at https://t.co/PzAdjUFMJj when we have more information to share!
