Russell Wilson, the Seahawks division could happen ‘soon’

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks are divorcing, according to a detailed report by The Athletic on Thursday.

“Some people in the league think that an exchange can happen, if not in this off season, then at some point in the near future,” said The Athletic.

Wilson could command up to three choices in the first round, according to several reports, and the 32-year-old has three years left on a $ 140 million four-year contract that he signed in April 2019.

Athletic reported that the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints have a certain level of interest in Wilson.

In a broad and deep plunge into the gap between Wilson and the Seahawks, the report focuses on the difference of opinion between Wilson and the organization on the design of the attack and the personnel on the offensive line.

Wilson responded to reports of his frustration with the Seahawks after the Super Bowl, a game he attended as NFL Man of the Year Walter Payton as a guest of Commissioner Roger Goodell. Wilson told The Dan Patrick Show that he is increasingly concerned about the nearly 400 career layoffs he has taken in nine seasons.

“This is a big thing that we have to fix. It has to be fixed,” said Wilson.

Athletic’s report said Wilson had been sending angry text messages to Jake Heaps, a former teammate and private passing coach, during the game. It was a teeming position for Wilson that overflowed during a meeting that The Athletic said ended with Wilson leaving the room before the Seahawks played in Arizona on Thursday night in November 2020.

According to the report, Wilson gave the team an outline of his ideas for fixing the attack, but coach Pete Carroll rejected it.

In the new report, several sources are interviewed and the blame is assessed by these sources on both sides.

An attributed comment from former running back Robert Turbin, who was at Wilson’s wedding, indicated that the quarterback’s well-being is at the center of the issues.

“The reason we are here is because he is on his way to being the most fired quarterback in NFL history,” Turbin told The Athletic.

But another source, pointing to a two-game period in which Wilson made seven turnovers and Carroll reduced the attack, sided with Seattle.

“He is finally on fire. That is the main reason for all of this,” said the source.

A coach from another team said: “It’s a great story. There’s a lot there. Money, greed, power and control.”
