Warzone, Black Ops Cold Warfare and Modern Warfare • Eurogamer.net

The download of the second season of Call of Duty: Warzone is already live – and it is a big problem.

Here are the download sizes:

  • PlayStation 5: 17 GB
  • PlayStation 4: 17 GB
  • Xbox One Series X / Xbox One Series S: 17.9 GB
  • Xbox One: 17.9 GB
  • PC: 16.9 GB (war zone only), 20.8 GB (modern war and war zone)

When I started downloading on my PS5 this morning, I was warned that 100 GB of free space would be needed before I could download the 17 GB update, forcing myself to delete the games installed on my hard drive.

After deleting some games, the download of 17GB Modern Warfare started.

It is really annoying to have to find so much space for a 17 GB download, especially considering that there is currently no way to move PS5 games from the SSD.

Storage is a problem that Activision solved overnight, warning that those who own a standard PS4 with a standard 500 GB hard drive (it’s me!) May need space if they have the full versions of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Black Ops Cold War with all modes and packages installed.

This means that for the first time Activision is warning that all three games installed in their entirety and updated with the second season will no longer fit on a standard PS4.

“If you have both games installed and keep up to date with updates, you may need to delete some unused game content to download and install the Warzone patch tonight,” said Activision.

You can uninstall parts of Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare to save space, but it’s a remarkable moment that shows how big the installation footprints of Call of Duty have become.
