DeSantis defends Florida over lack of detailed vaccine distribution plan

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantisRon DeSantisDeSantis defends Florida over the lack of a detailed plan to distribute the Trump vaccine to attack Biden in the CPAC speech. Palm Beach County officials refuse to drop flags for Limbaugh MORE (R) defended his state’s vaccine distribution plan on Wednesday after critics argued that it did not have enough details or structure, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

Sunshine State is taking it one step at a time as it works to vaccinate its population. From the start, DeSantis promised to prioritize those 65 and older, but did not provide much detail about who else might be next.

DeSantis argued on Wednesday at a news conference that failure to follow a structured plan has worked in the state’s favor, as it is giving them more flexibility to adapt as they go along.

“If you look at it, many of these (states) have adopted plans and have already had to change them,” said DeSantis, according to the Times. “We didn’t do that.”

On Tuesday, DeSantis signaled that educators and police over 50 may be next in priority, but did not share any substantial details, which he said will come next week, reports the Times.

State Representative Blaise Ingoglia echoed DeSantis’ feelings about Florida’s faltering plan, saying, “We are addressing this pandemic in a way that other states are not.”

He continued: “What other states are doing wrong, I believe this governor is getting it right.”

Florida has vaccinated 2,792,118 people to date and 1,492,509 of those people have received both doses, according to the state Department of Health.
