Apparently, not all beaches are the same.
Or at least that’s what Tripadvisor’s updated list of the “25 best beaches” suggests, which ranked some of the most popular coastal destinations in the world.
The travel planning and review website made its determination based on user responses left on Tripadvisor.com in the past 12 months, according to a press release released on Tuesday.

At the Tripadvisor launch, 10 US beaches were highlighted as highlights for 2021. Five of them in Hawaii and two in Florida.
Meanwhile, the West Coast secured two places in the top 10 and the East Coast secured one.
“Whether your favorite type of beach is clean and pristine or rugged and rugged, this list of travelers’ favorites is just the inspiration you need to start planning your next beach break,” said Christine Maguire of Tripadvisor, who is vice president and general manager of global media business at the company.

1. Saint Pete Beach – St. Pete Beach, Florida
TripAdvisor says its users have found Saint Pete Beach a great place to watch the sunset and take a small group cruise.
2. Ka’anapali Beach – Lahaina, Hawaii
TripAdvisor says its users have called Ka’anapali Beach “beautiful” and “affordable”. The most popular activities here are snorkeling and whale watching.
3. Moonstone Beach – Cambria, California
TripAdvisor says its users mainly like Moonstone Beach for its beauty and availability of precious and semi-precious stones, including jade and moon stones. In addition to the treasure hunt, visitors highly value sunset cruises.

4. Wailea Beach – Wailea, Hawaii
TripAdvisor says its users have written that Wailea Beach offers “breathtaking views of the Maui coast”. The main activity that visitors took part in was sea turtle tours.
5. Cannon Beach – Cannon Beach, Oregon
TripAdvisor says its users liked the natural pools and sea creatures of Cannon Beach, which become visible during low tide at Haystack Rock. For this reason, guided walks on the beach were the most popular activity.
6. Napili Beach – Lahaina, Hawaii
TripAdvisor says its users have praised Napili Beach for its natural reef, where marine life is easily visible. Whale watching from the port of Lahaina was another important activity for this Hawaiian beach.

7. Ogunquit Beach – Ogunquit, Maine
TripAdvisor says its users were impressed by Ogunquit’s beach during high tide, which reportedly allows visitors to walk or swim hundreds of meters while the water is just waist-high. Reviewers also enjoyed exploring Perkins Cove, a small fishing community that offers panoramic views and shopping opportunities.
8. Wai’anapanapa State Park – Hana, Hawaii
TripAdvisor says its users love the beach at Wai’anapanapa State Park for its “otherworldly” black sand. Walks through former volcanic lands are an important activity for bathers.
9. Madeira Beach – Madeira Beach, Florida
Tripadvisor claims that its users like Madeira Beach for its flat terrain and ease of walking. The beach is also very popular for its gastronomic options.

TripAdvisor says its users have found that Kailua Beach Park has “less crowds” and a “good park”. The best rated activity here was a guided day tour of the nearby Mokulua Islands.

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States is asking people to avoid non-essential travel during the pandemic, the health agency is not against visits to the beach.
Instead, the CDC is advising Americans to make cautious considerations before visiting a public beach. The security protocols that the agency recommends include the use of face masks, regular hand hygiene and efforts to maintain social distance, avoiding large meetings.
