SPRINGFIELD, Missouri (KY3) – Walmart will host a COVID-19 drive-thru vaccination clinic Thursday at a Springfield location. But it is only by appointment.
Walmart will begin administering Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines in Springfield with a drive thru clinic at the Walmart Supercenter, 3315 S. Campbell Ave., starting February 25 through the US Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Eligible patients can schedule a vaccine appointment through the Walmart website, making it more convenient to be vaccinated while supplies of vaccine last. Vaccines will be available to those who meet the current vaccine eligibility phase in Missouri, which can be found on the Missouri Department of Health website. There is no need for insurance, there is no cost to receive the vaccine and scheduling for the second vaccination will be made at the time of the consultation. Appointments are available from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and the company expects these events to take place in the coming weeks, as permitted.

Walmart selected vaccine clinics in locations that prioritize access for people considered most vulnerable. The team considered demographic information, local health needs and medically underserved data to identify places where the company can have the greatest impact in increasing access to the vaccine.
“We have two objectives when administering vaccines: first, to obtain as many vaccines as possible in eligible weapons so that we can continue the process of reopening our country and, second, to ensure equitable access to vaccines in the communities we serve. Most of our new vaccine clinics are located in poorly serviced neighborhoods and we are proud to contribute to increasing access to care in these communities, ”said Dr. Cheryl Pegus, executive vice president of Walmart Health & Wellness. “We will continue to find new ways to increase access to vaccination for our customers as we work towards the eventual end of the pandemic.”
Walmart is partnering with CDC and states to act as quickly as possible to help administer vaccines to eligible populations in participating states. Vaccine supply and eligibility vary according to state and local guidelines. In addition to the appointments, the scheduler will provide a digital reminder of the return time for the second vaccine, which is why customers are asked to create a profile, helping to ensure that customers receive the second dose of the vaccine within the required time.
Walmart pharmacies will continue to support states and the federal government to help increase the accessibility and availability of COVID-19 vaccines. To stay up to date on how Walmart and Sam’s Club are supporting the vaccine’s launch, visit https://corporate.walmart.com/covid-vaccine.
